Cornelius Grube

Cornelius Grube (b. 1967, Cologne) is a prominent German arts administrator and cultural manager with over two decades of leadership experience in the orchestral and opera sectors. Since 2003, he has served as Intendant of the Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen, where he oversees artistic planning, organizational development, and institutional strategy. Prior to this, he held key management roles as Orchestral Manager at the Staatstheater Kassel (2000–2003) and the Baden-Baden Philharmonic, where he also directed the Carl Flesch Academy masterclasses. His early career included dramaturgical work at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden and project coordination for Hamburg’s “Brahms Year 1997”.

Grube holds a diploma in Cultural Management from the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg, earned with distinction under Prof. Peter Ruzicka and Prof. Rolf Dünnwald. He studied cello at the Hochschule Detmold (with Karine Georgian) and Basel (with Antonio Meneses), and chamber music with the Amadeus Quartet and Prof. Christoph Poppen. A committed advocate for orchestral institutions, he is Co-Chair of the Orchestral Committee of the Deutscher Bühnenverein, a jury member of the Dirigentenforum des Deutschen Musikrates, and speaker for AGOS (Working Group of South German Orchestras). He has published widely on cultural topics and contributed to music journals such as Das Orchester.
