The Mexican conductor Jorge Vázquez is the founder and artistic director of the Filarmonía Orchestra in Xalapa, Mexico, and has served as assistant conductor at the Teatr Wielki Opera Narodowa in Warsaw.
He studied conducting with Maestro Grzegorz Nowak, Permanent Associate Conductor of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Music Director of the Polish National Opera, and assisted Maestro Nowak in rehearsals, concerts and recordings with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Polish National Opera and Sinfonia Varsovia.
Throughout his career, Vázquez has collaborated with numerous orchestras worldwide, such as the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre National d’Île de France, MDR Leipzig Radio Symphony, Rochester Philharmonic, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, Sinfónica Nacional de México, Filarmónica George Enescu, Filarmónica de Málaga, Kielce Philharmonic, Olsztyn Philharmonic, Hradec Kralove Philharmonic, Szeged Symphony Orchestra, Orquesta de la Academia del Teatro Colón, Berlin Sinfonietta, OFUNAM, Sinfónica de Xalapa, OSUG, Sinfónica de Michoacán, Sinfónica de Puebla, Sinfónica de Oaxaca, Sinfónica de Tamaulipas, Filarmónica de Querétaro, Sinfónica de Hidalgo, Sinfónica de Aguascalientes, and Filarmónica de Acapulco.
Vázquez has attended master classes at the Eastman School of Music, the Liszt School of Music in Weimar and the International Master Classes in Berlin under the tutelage of Jose Serebrier, Lior Shambadal, Nicolas Pasquet, Johannes Schlaefli, Enrique Arturo Diemecke, Giancarlo Guerrero, David Efron, and Neil Varon.
Vázquez won the Koussevitzky International Conducting Competition and was awarded the first ever Miami Symphony Conducting Fellowship by its Artistic Director.
