Conductor | Chief Conductor of Ärzteorchester Heidelberg
Hyunsik Shin

Hyunsik Shin (b. 1992, Seoul, South Korea) is a rising orchestral conductor currently based in Germany. He is Chief Conductor of the Ärzteorchester Heidelberg and Conductor of the St. Zyriak Church Choir since 2024. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Flute Performance from the Catholic University of Korea (2017), where he also performed as a solo flutist, and completed his Bachelor’s in Orchestral Conducting (2025) at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Mannheim under Prof. Stefan Blunier and Prof. Cosima Sophia Osthoff. He is continuing his Master’s studies in Orchestral Conducting at the same institution from October 2025.

Shin has gained recognition on the international stage, winning 1st Prize at the 4th International Conducting Competition “Orchestra’s Conductor” in Bucharest (2025) and reaching the semifinals of Campus Dirigieren in Germany (2025). He was selected as an Outstanding Conductor at the Conductor Workshop with the Korean National Symphony Orchestra under Christoph Poppen (Seoul, August 2025). He has collaborated with ensembles such as the Kurpfälzisches Kammerorchester, Philharmonie Baden-Baden, Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen, and orchestras of the Nationaltheater Mannheim and Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern. In May 2024, he participated in a masterclass with Maestro Martin Sieghart with the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra.
