I IFFCC Jury Member
Born in Poland, Ewa Strusińska studied at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw before becoming Assistant Conductor at the Czestochowa Philharmonic Orchestra. She first gained recognition as a laureate of the prestigious Gustav Mahler Conducting Competition in Bamberg.
In 2008, she won a Junior Fellowship in Conducting at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.
She was selected by the London Symphony Orchestra for a master class with Valery Gergiev in 2008 and worked with the Royal Ballet at Covent Garden in 2010.
From 2013 to 2016, Strusińska served as Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Szczecin Philharmonic Orchestra. She was also the first female Assistant Conductor of the Hallé Orchestra in Manchester (2008-2010), where she worked closely with Sir Mark Elder CBE and conducted both the orchestra and the Hallé Youth Orchestra. Strusińska has built a diverse operatic and ballet repertoire, having served as Assistant Conductor at the Polish National Opera and Polish National Ballet – Teatr Wielki in Warsaw. Her opera work also includes performances at the RNCM, Buxton Opera Festival, and Theater Magdeburg.
Internationally, Strusińska has conducted the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Bamberger Symphoniker, Hallé Orchestra, Magdeburgische Philharmonie, Norddeutsche Philharmonie Rostock, Hofer Symphoniker, Sinfonietta Baden, Uppsala Chamber Orchestra, Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, National Polish Radio Orchestra, Sinfonia Varsovia, Szczecin Philharmonic Orchestra, Łódź Philharmonic Orchestra, Opole Philharmonic Orchestra, Warsaw National Opera Philharmonic Orchestra, Beethoven Academy Orchestra, Sinfonia Iuventus, Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra, Gävle Symfoniorkester, Norrlands Opera Symphony Orchestra, Slovak Sinfonietta, Sønderjyllands Symfoniorkester, and the Northern Sinfonia.
Strusińska has become internationally recognized for her transformative role in the Szczecin Philharmonic Orchestra, leading them to new artistic heights in the acoustically acclaimed Szczecin Philharmonic Hall.
She has been awarded the title of ‘Ambassador of Stalowa Wola’ by her home town, in recognition of her personal achievements both in Poland and internationally.
In 2023, Strusińska was a member of the jury of the I international ferenc fricsay conducting competition.
